Pharo and Outreach: keep the cadence, change the call step

Why this one is a pairing rather than a migration, and what actually changes.

Outreach defined the sales engagement category and your cadences, sequences and reporting live in it. Nothing on this page suggests moving them.

The call step is a different question. This is about what happens when the phone task comes up — where the number comes from, whether it is checked before anyone dials it, and how many lines go out at once.

What changes, and what does not

01The cadence stays exactly where it is

Email steps, LinkedIn steps, triggers, reporting — all of it continues to run in Outreach. This is deliberately not a migration: the cost of moving a working cadence is enormous and the benefit of moving it is zero.

Pharo pulls the call tasks that are due, and hands back dispositions, recordings and stage updates. If it were removed tomorrow the sequences would carry on unchanged, which is the test of whether a pairing is really a pairing.

02The call step is where the day goes

A hundred-call cadence step is mostly waiting. At a 3–5% connect rate the rep spends the bulk of it on ringing, switchboards and voicemail greetings — and Outreach, quite reasonably, is not trying to solve that; it is a sequencing platform. Parallel dialing exists there with additional licensing, and carries compliance considerations in some jurisdictions that are worth checking for your market.

Pharo takes that queue, screens the numbers against live network signals first, and dials several lines at once, bridging the rep in under 200ms when a human answers.

03The missing number nobody wants to go and find

The step that quietly costs the most is a task with no direct line on it. The rep stops, opens another tool, searches, copies, comes back. It happens several times a day and it is never in anyone’s reporting.

Pharo enriches the task in place from several vendors at their own API cost, so the number is there when the task comes up and nobody leaves the queue to find it.

So which one?

Choose Outreach if

Your motion is email-led and your reps place a handful of researched calls a day — the built-in dialer is the right amount of tool for that.

Choose Pharo if

You are running call volume and want the call step to stop being the slowest part of a cadence you are otherwise happy with.

Common questions

Do I have to replace Outreach to use Pharo?

No. This is a pairing rather than a migration. Email steps, LinkedIn steps, triggers and reporting all continue to run in Outreach, which stays the source of truth for cadence state. Pharo pulls the call tasks that are due and hands back dispositions, recordings and stage updates.

Does Outreach have a parallel dialer?

Outreach Voice is click-to-dial and the Dialer adds power dialing. Parallel dialing exists with additional licensing, and it carries compliance considerations in some jurisdictions that are worth checking for your market. Pharo bridges the rep in under 200ms across 2 to 8 or more lines, in the seat.

When is the built-in Outreach dialer enough?

When your motion is email-led and your reps place a handful of researched calls a day. Outreach is a sequencing platform and, quite reasonably, is not trying to solve call throughput. For a small number of high-value calls, the dialer that comes with it is the right amount of tool.

What happens when a call task has no phone number on it?

Today the rep stops, opens another tool, searches, copies and comes back — several times a day, and never in anyone’s reporting. Pharo, the AI parallel dialer, enriches the task in place from several vendors at their own API cost, so the number is there when the task comes up.

Where do the call outcomes end up?

Written back to both Outreach and your CRM: dispositions, recordings and stage updates. If Pharo were removed tomorrow the sequences would carry on unchanged, which is the test of whether a pairing is really a pairing rather than a migration with a friendlier name on it.
