Dial-to-meeting rate

Dial-to-meeting rate is the share of dials that produce a booked meeting. It is far smaller than most quoted figures suggest: Belkins measured about one meeting per 370 dials across 175,000+ dials, and SkipCall’s worked funnel implies about one per 100. Anything near a few percent is almost always a per-conversation rate being read as a per-dial one.

How it is measured

Meetings booked ÷ total dials, over a period long enough to absorb variance — a week is noise for one rep; a month is a number.

The denominator is the whole difficulty. A meeting rate quoted per live conversation is ten to twenty times larger than the same team’s rate per dial, and the two get swapped constantly — including, until this page was corrected, by us. If a benchmark does not say what it is divided by, it is not a benchmark.

It is still the most honest single measure of an outbound motion, because it is the only one that cannot be gamed by activity. It compounds every upstream factor: data quality, caller ID health, list targeting, the opener, and how many conversations the tooling makes room for.

It is also why connect rate should never be optimised alone. A change that raises connect rate but lowers meeting rate — calling a more reachable but less qualified segment, for instance — is a step backwards that every activity dashboard will report as progress.
