Dials per hour is the count of outbound attempts a rep makes in an hour of calling. Single-line dialing typically produces 25–40; parallel dialing produces 80–200 or more. It is the metric a dialer actually changes.
How it is measured
Attempts ÷ hours in a calling session. Count each line of a parallel attempt as a dial — otherwise the number is not comparable to a single-line team’s, which is the comparison it exists to make.
Useful as a throughput measure and dangerous as a target. Managed to directly, it rewards dialing bad numbers fast: a rep can double dials per hour by working an unverified list and never reaching anyone. Pair it with contact rate or it will actively degrade the thing it is supposed to improve.
The number is also bounded by list size, not just by the dialer. Four lines against a list of 200 exhausts it before the hour is out.
