Connect rate is the share of dials that reach a live human. Published 2026 benchmarks put US B2B connect rates at roughly 8–12% on generic data and 18–22% on verified mobile direct dials. It is a property of your data and caller ID reputation, not of your dialer.
How it is measured
Live human answers ÷ total dials, over a defined period. Count a dial once, not once per line — a four-line parallel attempt that produces one conversation is four dials and one connect, and computing it the other way inflates the number fourfold.
This is the single most misused number in outbound. Changing dialer does not change it: a parallel dialer increases how many dials fit in an hour, which raises conversations per hour at the same connect rate. Anyone selling a dialer on the promise of a higher connect rate is selling you their data, not their dialer.
What does move it: direct dials instead of switchboards, mobile numbers instead of desk lines, verified numbers instead of inferred ones, and a caller ID that has not been flagged. The gap between 8–12% and 18–22% in the published benchmarks is almost entirely data quality.
