Dialing

Call disposition

A call disposition is the coded outcome recorded against a dial — connected, voicemail, no answer, wrong number, bad data, meeting booked. It is the field every downstream number is computed from, and the one most often filled in inconsistently.

Dispositions are what make connect rate, contact rate and dial-to-meeting measurable at all. They are also the field reps skip fastest under volume, which is why a dialer that sets them automatically from what actually happened on the line is worth more than one that presents a dropdown.

The common failure is too many options. A disposition list with 20 entries produces 20 inconsistent interpretations across a floor and no usable data; six or seven mutually exclusive outcomes produce a metric you can act on.
