Number rotation distributes outbound calls across a pool of phone numbers so that no single number carries enough volume to be flagged as spam. It is the standard defence against caller ID burn, and it is why parallel dialing needs a pool rather than a number.
The mechanism is simple and the sizing is not. Too few numbers and each still crosses the volume threshold; too many and you are paying monthly for capacity you do not use, at roughly $10–15 per number. Vendors provision differently — Orum includes up to ten caller IDs a month in the seat, Salesfinity publishes ten rising to twenty, Trellus bundles eight on its parallel plan.
Rotation is not a substitute for the underlying behaviour. A pool dialed hard enough gets every number in it flagged in turn, and because reputation is scored per number, the damage simply spreads. Rotation buys time and headroom; it does not make volume free.
